NO PERMIT REQUIRED
Effective July 1, 2026, the City of Sandpoint no longer administers a Short Term Rental permit program due to changes in Idaho law under House Bill 583. HB 583 limits the ability of cities and counties to impose local permit, license, registration, fee, or other regulatory requirements that would apply specifically to short term rentals. As a result, Short Term Rentals in Sandpoint are no longer subject to a City STR permit requirement.
Short Term Rental properties remain subject to generally applicable City codes and standards, including those related to noise, parking, nuisance, building safety, and other regulations that apply to residential properties.
