Branch Pickup

Branch Pile

2026 Spring Branch Pickup Program

Spring is here! The City will be picking up branches during the week of April 20–24, 2026.

Schedule & Important Deadlines

  • Please have branches placed out by Monday, April 20th by 7am

  • Crews will pass through each area once and will not return to areas already serviced.

How to Prepare Your Pile

A little preparation goes a long way in helping our crews move efficiently and safely:

  • Place branches near the curb on the edge of the roadway in a visible, accessible location (not behind or blocked by cars, fences, or landscaping). Do not place branches on lawns, on sidewalk, or on planter strips.

  • Keep piles clear of:

  • Mailboxes

  • Sidewalks, curb ramps, and travel lanes

  • Catch basins

  • Areas directly under trees

  • Stack branches in organized piles, parallel to the curb (cut ends facing the same direction is especially helpful)

Size Requirements

  • Maximum diameter: 4 inches

  • Maximum length: 6 feet

  • Maximum pile size: 5 feet by 12 feet

These limits help protect City equipment and allow crews to complete pickup efficiently and safely. Materials larger than these limits cannot be collected.

Important Reminders

  • This service is for branches only

  • No yard waste (leaves, grass, clippings or other debris) will be collected

Piles that do not meet these requirements or are not placed out by the deadline may not be collected and may be subject to enforcement, including citation, under City Code.

Top Reasons Piles Are Not Collected

  • Branches exceed size limits (over 4 inches in diameter or 6 feet in length)

  • Pile exceeds size limit (5 feet by 12 feet)

  • Piles contain non-branch material (leaves, grass, or other debris)

  • Piles are blocked or not visible from the street

Help Keep Our Sidewalks Clear

As you’re trimming branches, please also help keep our community safe and accessible:

  • Trees should be trimmed to provide at least 7 feet of clearance above sidewalks

Thank you for helping keep Sandpoint’s streets safe and welcoming for everyone.

Yard Waste Alternatives

Residents looking to dispose of yard waste may consider composting options available through:

  •  Colburn and Dufort Solid Waste Facilities

  •  At-home composting (see EPA Composting at Home resources)
