It is unlawful for any person to possess, sell, give away, or discharge any firecrackers or fireworks of any kind in the city parks, and all city-owned or leased property. The fire chief is hereby authorized and empowered to issue written permits for the public display or exhibition of fireworks within the territorial limits of the city. Sandpoint City Code 4-3B-1

Yes, excessive noise is not allowed between the hours of 10:00 P.M. and 6:30 A.M. There are some exceptions including emergencies and snow removal. Sandpoint City Code 5-2-6

The Sandpoint Police Department does not have any authority to issue a protection order. The request needs to be made through the Bonner County Court located at 215 S. First Ave in Sandpoint. They can be contacted at (208) 265-1432. The Lillybrooke Family Justice Center located at 227 S. First Ave in Sandpoint can also assist with filling out the necessary paperwork. They can be reached at (208) 265-3586.

If you witness a crime or are the victim of a crime, it’s important to report it as soon as possible. To report a crime, parking complaint, or animal problem you can always call the non-emergency line 24/7 at (208) 265-5525. You may also come into the Sandpoint Police Department in person which is located at 1123 W. Lake Street.

For emergencies or situations that require immediate attention, such as a crime in progress or a life-threatening situation, please dial 911.

You will be asked for personal information such as name, address, and phone number. You will also be asked to provide a detailed description of the incident. Some of this information may include your current location, the description of a vehicle or person, direction of travel, directions to and description of your home or vehicle, whether weapons were used, and if anyone else is involved.

Traffic citations that are issued by a police officer are handled at the Bonner County Clerk's Office located at 215 S. First Ave in Sandpoint. Parking citations or city code violations are handled at Sandpoint City Hall located at 1123 W. Lake Street.

Prescription medication can be dropped off at the Sandpoint Police Department Monday - Friday 8 A.M. - 5 P.M. Liquid and needles are not accepted. 

The Bonner County Jail is located at 4001 N. Boyer Road in Sandpoint. They can be contacted via phone at (208) 263-8417. The Bonner County Juvenile Detention Facility is located at 4002 Samuelson Ave in Sandpoint. They can be contacted via phone at (208) 263-1602.

The Sandpoint Police Department has the ability to assist with vehicle lock-outs in an emergency, however, if it is a non-emergency situation, you will need to contact a locksmith or tow company.
