In 2010 The City of Sandpoint Arts Commission invited designers and design teams to submit proposals for a metal gateway that will incorporate public art in downtown Sandpoint, Idaho, between the 82-year-old, Spanish-mission-style Panida Theater and adjoining brick office building at the intersection of First Avenue and Main Street.
The goals of this project will be to create an inviting gateway to Sand Creek, add character and individual expression to Sandpoint’s downtown revitalization efforts, and engage and delight the community. The Funding for this project came from an Idaho Transportation Department Enhancement Grant.
Local Artist Nelson Boren was selected to design the Gateway.
